Crystal Clear Filter Media 6000l (360G) - Sera

erman aquarium and pond product manufacturer Sera recently introduced an innovative filter media to the U.S. market aimed specifically at clarifying fine particles in the water column. Crystal Clear Professional is a mechanical filtration media which, according to the manufacturer, is “characterized by a patented 3-D fiber structure that effectively removes particles above 10 μm (such as floating algae and sludge).” This versatile media can be used in a pond or home aquarium application and, “unlike common filter wool, these new filter balls keep their shape, can be washed out, and are 80% reusable.”

Crystal Clear professional media can be used in a number of settings: as media in a canister, trickle, or other filter, or as a stand-alone media within a reactor for temporary water clarification (as seen in the promotional video below). While designed with backyard ponds in mind, it can easily work in most home aquariums, especially in larger systems or those housing large fish, where fine particulates often cloud the water column. Sera notes that this “high performance filter medium is suitable for both freshwater and marine aquariums and all filter types.” Look for Crystal Clear Professional by Sera at local aquarium shops across the U.S. in the coming weeks.
